The Zambia Police Service has assured the general public of continued maintenance of law and order before, during and after elections.
Speaking when deputy inspector general of police Charity Katanga paid a courtesy call on Eastern Province acting permanent Secretary Josphat Lombe, she said that the officers are ready to ensure that there is security in the country.
Miss Katanga has expressed happiness over the generally sober mood in Eastern Province and that she would be undertaking impromptu patrols to check on the compliance levels to the Electoral Code of conduct.
Meanwhile Eastern Province acting permanent Secretary Josphat Lombe has commended the Zambia police in the Province for maintaining law and order.
He has since called on the general public to uphold peace and unity regardless of the divergent political opinions.
He has also urged the police officers to practice impartiality in the execution of their duties.
