Eastern province acting permanent secretary Josphat Lombe has directed all heads of government departments in the province to go and explain to their junior officers over the debt swamp that government has come up with to the civil servants.
Addressing all heads of government departments in Chipata yesterday, Mr. Lombe says that there is need for the heads of departments to explain to the junior civil servants on the debt swamp as many do not exactly understand its benefit.
Mr. Lombe says that the introduction of this debt is meant to help the civil servants settle their debts owed to different lending institutions.
The acting PS says that from the interactions that they have had with civil servants, it is clear that many are happy with the move as it will cushion their burden on the loans they got from financial institutions.
He further adds that information of such nature should not be hidden hence the need to share with other officers so that they clearly get the concept on the matter.
Meanwhile speaking on behalf of other civil servants in the province, provincial labor officer Francis Shabani thanked the government on the matter saying it will go a long way in helping the civil servants sort out their problem.
Recently government introduced the debt swamp to all the civil servants in order to overcome their loans they got from different financial lending institutions.
