Chipata Press Club is concerned with the increased numbers of people that have succumbed to COVID-19 in Eastern Province and the country in general.

Press Club Chairperson Christopher Miti says a lot of people have died while others are battling for their dear lives in various Health facilities after contracting this disease.

Mr. Miti says that journalists going by the nature of their job are exposed to a lot of people including those that tested positive for COVID and are at high risk of contracting the disease.

Being among the frontline staff in this fight, journalists are therefore advised to lead by example in ensuring that they strictly adhere to the preventive guidelines.

The Press Club has appealed to media institutions to ensure that members of staff are given enough masks and sanitizers among other important things to prevent themselves from COVID-19.

Journalists have also been called upon to do regular COVID-19 tests so that they know their status as well as disseminate the right message regarding the pandemic because their role in the fight against this disease is immense.

This is contained in a statement issued and made available to Feel Free news by Chipata Press Club Chairperson Christopher Miti.
