Residents of Chipata have expressed worry with the increase of street vending in Chipata city.

Speaking to feel free news in an exclusive interview, one of the concerned resident Wilson Jere says the state at which street vending has reached now is quiet alarming.

Mr. Jere says it is sad that people can even reach an extent of selling their goods along the umodzi highway a situation he has described as unacceptable.

And Mr. Jere has attributed the development to political interference leaving the market committees with no say on the matter.

And Isaac Shawa from chipangali has called on the councils to work with the state police to curb street vending.
