Musicians free to sing politics

WITH political parties engaging musicians to spice up their campaigns, National Arts Council of Zambia (NAC) says there is nothing wrong with its members gettinginvolved in politics or singing campaign songs because art is a business.NAC director Maanka Chipindi said in an interview yesterday that art is a business and that when artists provide aservice like any other service provider, they should be paid.Mr Chipindi said artists have a right to choose the political party they want to align themselves with, just like other citizens have such freedom of choice.“As NAC, we don’t see anything wrong with artists involving themselves in politics, or doing campaign songs because art is a business,” he said
